BMIが高い人は医療費が高い。
なんとなく、「そうなんだろうなぁ・・・」と思っていたことを、エビデンスとともに示されている。興味深い結果である。
疾患別に医療費に対する肥満の影響を見ると、筋骨格系の疾患で顕著とのこと。これもまた、「まぁ、そうだよね」、という結果であり、疑問はあまり感じない。
そして、股関節より、膝関節の方が肥満の影響が強い、ということも示されている。またまたこれも、納得の結果である。
余談だが、この調査、「BMIは自己申告だから、過小評価になってるかもね」とのこと。女性を対象にした調査だ。なかなか興味深い配慮である。
